A solidarity container en route to Wukro (Ethiopia) to rebuild Tigray
Agricultural machinery, medical equipment and 200 computers are travelling from Mollerussa to reactivate agriculture, healthcare and education in a region devastated by war.
On Friday, February 6, we loaded a truck in Mollerussa bound for Pamplona, where a solidarity container en route to Wukro (Ethiopia) was completed to support the reconstruction of Tigray.
The shipment included agricultural machinery —a tractor, seed drill and cultivator— purchased by the Foundation thanks to the generosity of our donors. This equipment will help launch a genetic improvement project for local cattle aimed at increasing milk production. The initiative, developed together with IPADA (Inclusive Peace and Development Africa), integrates agriculture and livestock farming: improving fodder production is essential to guarantee sufficient, quality feed for cattle. Only in this way can milk production increase sustainably and move communities toward food self-sufficiency.
The truck also transported X-ray and ultrasound equipment for Wukro Hospital, along with nearly 200 operational computers that will restore digital management of patients, staff and medical resources, and strengthen other centres in need of digitalisation. During our visit in April 2025, local authorities stressed the urgent need to replace IT equipment lost during the conflict, which currently forces essential services to operate with manual records.
A project to rebuild from the ground up
In this short video, Miquel Pujol, Vice President of the Foundation, explains the loading of the truck with agricultural machinery and the purpose of the cattle genetic improvement project we are promoting in Tigray. An initiative that integrates agriculture and livestock farming to strengthen local production, move towards food sustainability, and contribute to rebuilding opportunities for families in Wukro.
