🌍 The context in Wukro: when menstruation stops dreams
Wukro, in the heart of Tigray (Ethiopia), is a city marked by a recent conflict that has worsened living conditions, especially for girls and women. In this context, menstruation is still associated with silence, exclusion and period poverty. Every month, thousands of teenage girls are forced to miss school due to a lack of hygiene products and proper information. This reality interrupts their education, limits their dreams and perpetuates an unjust cycle of inequality and marginalization.
✨ A comprehensive solution: dignity kits and menstrual education
Together with local organizations working directly on the ground, the Fundació CIS Ángel Olaran has launched an innovative and necessary project: to distribute 1,000 dignity kits to the most vulnerable girls and women in Wukro. These kits include high-quality reusable pads, underwear and culturally adapted educational materials, enabling each beneficiary to manage her menstruation with autonomy, hygiene and dignity.
But the project goes far beyond providing menstrual products: it includes specific training on menstrual health, self-esteem and human rights. Through participatory and culturally sensitive sessions, we are breaking deep-rooted taboos and empowering the whole community.

When girls receive their dignity kits, many express deep emotion and a new sense of confidence. One of the most frequently repeated phrases is:
